Maris Stella High School Students Learning AI and Robotics at Weston Robot
2025-03-11 17:54:00
Students from Maris Stella High School visited Weston Robot for an enriching hands-on experience with cutting-edge AI and robotics. During the session, they interacted with GPT-powered humanoid robots and agile robot dogs, gaining firsthand insight into how AI enhances robotic intelligence. The students also tried on wearable exoskeletons to understand how robotics can assist in physical tasks. This interactive learning journey aimed to spark their curiosity and inspire future careers in science, engineering, and artificial intelligence.

Weston Robot had the pleasure of hosting students from Maris Stella High School for an immersive educational session focused on the exciting world of robotics and artificial intelligence. The visit began with an engaging introduction to how AI is transforming the way robots operate, communicate, and learn. Students were guided through real-world applications of robotics across different industries, from automation in manufacturing to smart assistants in service sectors. The team at Weston Robot emphasized the role of large language models like GPT, explaining how AI gives robots the ability to interpret language, make decisions, and interact more naturally with humans. The interactive format kept the students fully engaged, allowing them to ask questions and see firsthand how advanced robots function in real time. By blending technical demonstrations with fun, hands-on activities, the learning journey made complex technologies feel accessible and inspiring. Many students were excited to discover how their classroom knowledge in mathematics and science connects to real-world innovations. This experience not only expanded their understanding of AI and robotics but also encouraged them to think about future possibilities in the tech-driven world.

A key highlight of the day was the students’ hands-on experience with Weston Robot’s humanoid robots and agile robot dogs — both powered by GPT technology. The humanoid robots demonstrated how AI can enable machines to carry on natural conversations, understand instructions, and even express emotions. Students interacted with these robots in real-time, observing how language models can be embedded into robotics systems to create more lifelike and intelligent machines. Equally impressive were the robot dogs, which showed off their advanced locomotion and responsive behavior. Designed for tasks like inspection, patrolling, and even public engagement, these robots gave students a glimpse into how technology is already being applied in real-world scenarios. Weston Robot’s engineers walked the students through the technical components of these machines, explaining the sensors, motors, and AI software that bring them to life. With each demonstration, students grew more curious and enthusiastic, seeing robotics not just as gadgets, but as tools that solve real human problems. The session served as an eye-opener, reinforcing the importance of interdisciplinary knowledge — combining coding, engineering, and AI — in building the next generation of intelligent machines.

The learning journey concluded with a memorable experience: trying on industrial exoskeletons designed to support human strength and reduce physical strain in labor-intensive environments. Students from Maris Stella High School took turns wearing the exoskeletons, amazed at how the wearable robotic suit could redistribute weight and make lifting or repetitive movements feel lighter and more manageable. Weston Robot’s team explained how these assistive technologies are being used in sectors like construction, logistics, rehabilitation, and eldercare. It was a powerful lesson in how robotics can work alongside humans — not to replace them, but to augment their capabilities. Students were particularly interested in how sensors and mechanical design come together to create wearable machines, and many asked insightful questions about the future of robotics in healthcare and workforce safety. The session wrapped up with a discussion on career paths in the tech industry, encouraging students to consider roles in AI development, mechatronics, and human-robot interaction. The visit left a strong impression, transforming abstract STEM concepts into tangible experiences. Weston Robot hopes that moments like these will inspire students to dream big and innovate solutions for tomorrow’s challenges.
