- 09-12With Weston Robot's ready to deployed mobile robots, researchers from Cyber Security Research Centre @ NTU can focus on their cyber security research, while spending less effort to debug robotic hardware issues, which will greatly accelerate the pace of their research and deployment.
Weston Robot Deployed USV for Garbage Collection at Singapore PortUnmanned Surface Vessel (USV) equipped with M1 5G perform garbage collection and water surveillance at Marina Keppel Bay (MKB) Singapore. A piece of good equipment that reduces water pollution (no gasoline required), remote/autonomous cleaning, creating more high-tech jobs and cleaner water area for all to enjoy.
Weston Robot UGV Are 5G-Enabled with Robot Assisted Driving ToolboxKeppel Chief Executive Louis Lim and M1 Chief Executive Manjot Singh Mann and other M1 management team, viewing Weston Robot Autonomous UGV equipped with M1 5G (SA). The UGV is capable of patrolling around the Marina Keppel Bay area using 5G-enabled remote-driving.
Weston Robot Empowers NTU Autonomous ResearchA team of NTUsg roboticists took home two awards at an autonomous driving competition organized by Waymo, the autonomous-vehicle subsidiary of Google. Using algorithms they developed, the team was able to predict where a vehicle would be eight seconds in the future with high accuracy – about 30 cm away from the actual position in real-world data.
Weston Robot Invited to Share at NTU Makan Night TalksHas the pandemic greatly accelerated technological advancements such as robotics adoption? The answer is an evident yes, as we start to observe their presence significantly in the area of healthcare. Weston Robot's Chief Scientist Dr. Zhang Yanliang was invited to share his thoughts about how robots are used to combat with COVID-19 in Singapore and the globe.
Can Service Robot Achieve 99.x% Running Time?Over the past few years, I keep asking myself how we can make service robot's up time as close as to 99.x%. Otherwise, it is not practical to deploy large volume of service robots due to the overwhelming deployment and maintenance cost, and poor customer experience. I have seen so many cases where the service robot's down time is more than its up time.
Weston Robot Partners with Ouster to Promote 3D-Lidar-Based Robotics Navigation3D lidar is one of the key enabling technologies that helps robots see and understand our world. Ouster's 3D lidars have been widely adopted in autonomous driving and robotics research and deployment. Weston Robot now officially partners with Ouster to promote the lidar-based navigation for outdoor robotics applications.
Weston Robot Released Three Robot Toolboxes for Robot Vendors and IntegratorsOver the past 10 years, I am so blessed to work with great talent team both at MathWorks (USA), and at Weston Robot (Singapore). With the MathWorks engineering team, we launched Robotics System Toolbox in 2015 to help customers develop their robots. With my engineers at Weston Robot, we provide tools to help customers deploy their robots, remotely control their robots, and perform the robot maintenance. With these toolboxes, I believe the robot development, robot deployment, and after-sales robot control and maintenance will become less complicated, eventually making the robot more affordable for consumers.
MPA Deployed Robot to Protect Singapore from COVID-19While it is challenging to recruit security guards to continuously check who are not wearing masks, or who are standing too close (than 1 meters, for example) in public areas. It is also difficult to ask a cleaning staff to disinfect every corner of offices/kitchens at high frequency. However, these types of tasks fit to the domain of robotics and AI. Weston Robot developed two robots: UV-light disinfection robot and Mask&Social-Distancing checking robot to combat the challenges.
Weston Robot Awarded The Most Innovative Startup 2020Weston Robot was invited to participate in OCBC EMERGING ENTERPRISE AWARD 2020, where more than 400 Singapore-based SMEs submitted their application. After rounds of competitive internal review and on-site presentation, Weston Robot won the Best Innovation Award, and was
NUS Libraries Use Robots to Remind Student Wearing MaskHow to remind students wearing masks all the time while they are doing the final-prep for the coming semester-end exams? NUS libraries deployed Weston Robot's mask detection robot at their main library, school of medicine library, and school of business library.
Mask Detection and Social Distance Checking Robot Deployed at MCIAI technology can be used detect those who are not wearing masks, or who are standing too close with others (e.g. not following social distance measuring). Before the official deployment, we can take many pictures (with or without masking) using our cameras on the robot from different locations at Sentosa, and train the AI model to understand the difference between masking and unmasking, as well as estimating social distances.
Weston Robot Delivered Ackerman-Driven Autonomous Robot to NTUTo develop autonomous driving related algorithms with a real car is very expensive and requiring large spaces and tracks. However, Ackerman-drive robot, which mimics the behaviour of a car is superiors in many aspects. Autonomous driving research team in Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, adopts the Ackerman-drive robot from Weston Robot to conduct their advanced research.
Weston Robot Delivered FDA-approved Exoskeletons to Rehabilitation Research Institute of SingaporeThe FDA-approved PHOENIX Medical Exoskeleton is the world's lightest and most advanced exoskeleton designed to help people with mobility disorders to be upright and mobile. In the clinic, at home, and in the workplace Phoenix has successfully enabled many individuals to stand up, walk about, and speak to peers eye-to-eye.
Weston Robot Delivered Fully Autonomous Construction Inspection Robot to NTUWeston Robot built a fully autonomous inspection robot with school of EEE at NTU, Singapore, to enable researchers to develop AI-based applications for construction inspection. The entire robot is ROS compatible with extensive interfaces for further development. With this autonomous robot, researchers from NTU can quickly leverage to test, validate, and deploy their research.
Weston Robot Launches Robots to Combat COVID-19Weston Robot (Singapore) launches mobile robots to combat COVID-19. The mobile disinfection robots enable disinfection using chemicals for open area, and UV lights for enclosed spaces (MRT and dormitory). The mobile temperature screening robots proactively search for persons with abnormal body temperature. It can also be used for mask detection and social distance measuring.
Volvo China Adopts SuitX Exoskeletons for Workers' Added SafetyVolvo's safety technology is world-famous, and SuitX, as an innovative technology company, is committed to the protection of workers be it in the industrial or medical field. This coincides with Volvo's philosophy.
Vesuvius Malaysia Adopts Exoskeletons for Loading and Packing TasksFounded in 1994, Vesuvius Malaysia is a UK-headquartered manufacturer of clay firebrick and other heat resisting clay products. With the aid of BackX, the workers now are able to carry 25kg of clay without worrying about experiencing back pain.
